Their red and white flag color …that combination beats logic! Ok, we have seen worse, like the pirates flag, but at least that means death, you know, the skull and the crossbones! And their old capital city Mdina… sounds like fun, no? Anyway, I hear Malta has a great nightlife. If you are a party animal, head there.
The Island of Malta is located at the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, with Valletta as the capital city. The Island comprises of small towns that form the largest population of close to 500,000 people. Though a small island, it enjoys being at crossroads of the great trade routes that happen in this region. It is funny that Malta is located in the middle of the sea but has no rivers and no hills above 300 meters. Malta’s history dates back to about 4500 BC when it is believed that the people of Sicily, a neighboring island, developed curiosity and decided to give the island they could see from the horizon a visit.
Of course the Sicilians could not have gone to Malta if they had no way of sailing through the narrow waters using boats or some kind of rafts. On their rafts, they somehow managed to ferry animals and seeds which they farmed on the Island as they settled in caves that today give a clear insight of their livelihoods. The cave that appears to be the first to be inhabited is referred to as Ghar-Dalam or the cave of darkness where remains of the inhabitants and artifacts were found.
Many different political situations saw the Island of Malta passing through different governance including the Romans, Arabs, British and many others. The British were the last on Malta and the Maltese people fought for a long time to govern their own Island. At the end of it all, the British packed and the much anticipated lowering of the union jack took place in 1979. These events saw Malta entering the world of nations and handling its own decisions for the good of its people. The Island might appear tiny but many were after it simply because of its strategic location.

Can you Buffer to the location?
