The large population In Jakarta, or anywhere else for that matter, is a problem. I dare say it makes the rat race more hectic, more congested and with the sweltering heat of Jakarta, too much congestion is not good, if you know what I mean.

I came across a funny bit about the stand-up comedians in Jakarta. However, do make sure that when you go to Jakarta, you go to see the comedians and then do like the Jakartans do, castigate them! One of the most common questions about stand-up comedians in Jakarta is, “What is so funny about them?” When you go there though, do not let that dissuade you. Go and enjoy a session.

No pun intended, Jakarta is one of the greatest cities in Asia. It has great food, great people and great … well, isn’t "great" the word that we use when we want to entice you to go visit some city? However, Jakarta is great, in its own right.

The Indonesian city of Jakarta was chosen as the capital city of Indonesia in 1945 after independence from the Japanese. With a population of over 10 million people, it currently holds the 13th position in the rankings of the most populous cities in the world. The inhabitants of Jakarta do trade instead of farming and depend almost entirely on food imports.

This Asian city, just like many other overpopulated cities in Asia and Africa, suffers from a lack of housing with temporary housing being the norm for many. In addition, people face many problems including a lack of clean water.

In 1970, the city of Jakarta was closed due to increased human population causing a strain on the available resources. From then on, no new immigrants into the city are accepted without identification. Please carry your passport with you. In addition to the production of an identification card, all new immigrants are required to disclose their mission, destination, and the date of departure from the city.

There is more to Indonesia than the floating markets. The people are hospitable, and if you love natural history and art, the Jakarta History Museum will be the place to head to. Ancol Dreamland will be the place for you to escape all the clutter of the bustling metropolis of Jakarta. This amusement park is not anywhere close to Disneyland, but its great in its own Jakarta way.

Can you zoom to Jakarta?
