PROFESsee is my title. I am the perpetual learner, in pursuit of knowledge, wisdom and truth. I derived my name from professor
The life of a being is certainly in the blood. To drain the blood is to drain the life, and to infect the blood, is to make life unbearable. It is no wonder humans have had a long time fascination with it, even attributing all illnesses and their treatments to the blood in the case of bloodletting. Thankfully, such ignorance and ways based on assumptions have mostly been expunged for more time-tested and well-researched blood tests.
Blood tests are diagnostic and check up tools to help doctors find the cause of diseases or ailments, or to pick abnormalities before they escalate. Therefore, there are different blood tests testing different things and providing health metrics for different organs in the body. We discuss the most popular as time and space will not let an exhaustive list.
There are important can’t-live-without primary components of the blood that give qualitative metrics of one’s health. These components include white blood cells which help fight diseases and infections, red blood cells that carry oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body, platelets for clotting and hemoglobin also a carrier of oxygen in the body.
The Complete Blood Count (CBC) is a type of blood test that measures these primary components.  The CBC is for checkups and can help quickly pick ailments like blood cancers, anemia, infections, immune disorders and clotting concerns.
The blood also has secondary components in the form of chemicals, minerals and nutrients – such as glucose, electrolytes, calcium, iron and creatinine – which are found in the plasma. Measuring each of these components, show different truths about the state of health of the body in general, and of certain organs in other cases. These tests are called Blood Chemistry Tests or Basic Metabolic Panel. Sometimes, fasting is a prerequisite before some of the tests, to make sure the result is correct.
Another part in the blood of major concern to all is blood cholesterol. There are two kinds of cholesterol – the good (HDL) and the bad (LDL). Bad cholesterol blocks the arteries, while the good helps to cut blockages in the arteries. The lipoprotein panel helps measure this cholesterol as well as triglycerides. This can help know if the tested person is at risk of heart diseases.
Blood tests' importance is often emphasized and rightly so. Taking up regular blood tests will increase the chances of catching diseases early especially for those who are getting older (aren’t we all growing older?). Catching diseases early raises your chances of survival, and reduces their impact on the body. Take blood checkup test regularly.

Can you Identify the issues with these blood test results?
