In Brooklyn, they say, we aren’t working no more, we have been working since the ship docked. That is a joke that goes around about the black community of New York, but it’s just that: A joke. When you are in New York, don’t be surprised to see a beggar with a placard hung on his neck written: “why lie, I just want a beer”. It is located in the center of the metropolitan area of New York, in the northeastern part of the United States. Looking from the angle of the southeastern New York State side, it lies approximately between the Boston city and Washington D.C. It can also be said to be located at the mouth of river Hudson. This river provides natural shelter harbor and plays a significant role to the present trading port. It is called as the city of New York to differentiate it from the State of New York. It is a part of the latter. This city is referred to as the ‘global power city’ due to the important measures it has contributed in various areas of life like finance, commerce art, technology, research, fashion, entertainment and education amid others. It houses the United Nations Headquarters making it the international democracy center. It has also been said to be the world’s cultural capital. Its location has one of the largest natural harbors in the world. The city has five boroughs namely the Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Bronx Boroughs. Each is found on a county of New York City. The city of New York is heavily populated with an estimated population of about 8.4 million in an area of 783.8 KM 2. It has over 800 spoken languages making it the most populated and the most linguistically diverse city in the United States. The early history states that the region of New York was occupied by different bands of Native American tribes. However, over time, this city has become a darling for everyone and it is a lethargic mixpot of cultures today. When you get there, let it go, unleash it and enjoy yourself at the fastest pace.
