She almost sank to her knees in debt, like an old washerwoman stuck on her clothes line, not a very pleasant thing to say, but she had to be bailed out and I guess, that move alone drove Cameron to move for a referendum in 2015 to withdraw Britain from the EU free labor movement. This small island nation has seen a lot in her past, including the Turkish invasion. However, she still stands strong, and she will make it, no? Cyprus, officially referred to as the Republic of Cyprus is a country, not a big one, in fact just an Island in the Mediterranean Sea. In this Sea, Cyprus is third in terms of size and population and is a proud member of the European Union. The capital city is Nicosia, the official languages used are Greek and Turkish and the currency is Euro. The country has a population of about 1.1 million people according to statistics released in 2011 by the World Bank. Historically, the earliest human activities recorded on Cyprus can be dated back to the 10th millennium BC, which is like once upon a time. The village of Khirokita is one of the most preserved human settlements of the past and the Island also boasts of some of the oldest wells in the world. Cyprus has been a centre of attraction when it comes to historic cities. This is because the Island has ancient cities with great architectural works and designs. This means that coming across traces of history is as easy as visiting these cities. The Northern part of Cyprus is home to more historical sites and cities. If you want to view some of the most famous castles and cathedrals in their full splendor then this is the region to be at. Some of the famous cities that are ancient and rich in history are such as the city of Silo, and the City of Salamis, which is considered the largest ancient city of Cyprus and was once the capital for a very long time. Nicosia, the capital city also known as Lefkosa, is another place where you can find out a lot about the history of Cyprus and its occupants. In this city you will come across 3 entrances and walls running about 4.5 kilometers, which were built long before we existed. Cyprus has a lot to offer in terms of historical wealth.
