Circulatory, as in circular is perfect! All blood is pumped from the heart and there it also goes back! There is a reason as to why we give heart-shaped gifts during valentines or indicate love with a heart when we want to express our emotions to people we love or treasure. We also go to a distance of crossing our hearts and ‘hoping to die’ when we swear or sing out loud about our broken hearts or joy-filled hearts. It is all because the heart is a very important organ, actually the reason why you are still alive. The heart will beat faster when you experience excitements or when you are scared, which is why people still believe that emotions come from their hearts. The heart is usually the size of your fist and is located a little to the left of your chest; that explains the gesture when we want to show how we feel. The heart is the fuel pump in your body, it is responsible for the flow of blood in all your body parts including the brain and the lungs. What enables this special organ to actually be able to do this is the fact that it is a muscle. It is made up of many muscles that work involuntarily. This means that you cannot just decide to stop your heartbeat. Actually, the heart stops working during heart failures or death. When you look at it, the heart is two pumps in one. One of the pumps works to pump blood from the body into the lungs for oxygenation while the other pumps blood from the lungs to all body parts. With the knowledge of how important our hearts are, it is only wise to keep it healthy. How? You may ask, well, keeping a heart healthy is as simple as eating healthy foods, exercising regularly and keeping away from stress and smoking among many other harmful behaviors. Next time you start “breaking” your heart, think again. But don’t worry, I know a place where they repair broken hearts. Can you Answer these questions about the heart?
